We took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate an under appreciated legume. The lentil may not be as exotic as a peanut, as aesthetically pleasing as a snow pea, or as burly as a pinto bean, but it consistently and economically satisfies hunger and can warm the soul like an old friend... I especially liked the chili.
Tonight was the start of the Lentil festival here in Pullman. For those of you that don't know the Palouse area is one of the nations largest grower of lentils. So as you can see they make a very big pot of Lentil Chili to share with the whole community.

It was actually pretty tasty-although a little too spicy for the kids' taste so they sat and ate snacks out of the diaper bag. Tomorrow morning they are serving Lentil Pancakes, I don't know if we will be getting up early enough for that. Although, it might be interesting to try.
Caleb got to dress up as a fireman. He is so cute! I thought it was very neat that they had a size for the little kids to try on.
Of course Hailey just went to the library and climbed in the play truck they have there.
Every time I look at this one it makes me laugh.
